HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING IN OUR COMMUNITY!

Member Monday Shoutout: Elissa Culver

Why did you decide to join FMFA?
I have been interested in Crossfit for a few years but always had been so intimidated. I finally decided to join FMFA to push myself out of my comfort zone. I needed something different in my workouts and get out of the house and be social.

Did you have specific goals when joining?
When I started I didn’t have any specific goals when it came to weights or movements. I mainly just wanted to get stronger, learn some sweet new moves, and meet some new people.

What has kept you coming?
Everything about it. The workouts are so much FUN. The coaching staff are beyond knowledgeable and encouraging. Then there are the members, it is like walking into your best friends house every day. I have never met such an incredible and uplifting community. This place is next level awesome.

What are the biggest things you have noticed since joining us?
The biggest one for me is my mental health. My sleep is better, my stress levels are down and I feel happier on a day to day basis. It has only been 5 months and I can do so many things physically what I never thought were within reach (like handstand pushups!).

Do you have any advice for anyone looking to start or even for a current member?
DO IT! Get out of that comfort zone. Whether it is walking through that door for the first time or trying your first kick up on the wall to a handstand. You will never know what you are capable of if you don’t try. Plus you have a pretty rad team there to cheer you on every step of the way.

What is something we don’t know about you that you would be willing to share with us?
I walked on my tippy toes constantly from the time I learnt to walk, so much so that my parents took me to the doctor because I wouldn’t walk flat footed. I still catch myself doing it all the time. It seems to run in the family because my daughter now does it too!
